چکیده

The magnetoelastic (ME) biosensors are used to detect pathogen in fresh juice or milk by solenoid coil, and also developed for real-time, direct pathogen detection on food surfaces by surface-scanning coil. This paper presents blocking effect of different reagents on non-specific binding for detecting Salmonella typhimurium in apple juice using phage-based magnetoelastic biosensors. Three different blocking reagents of Bovine serum albumin, Superblock blocking buffer and blocker BLOTTO were used and evaluated. The results shows that blocker BLOTTO has the best blocking effect on non-specific binding. Blocking Non-Specific Binding for Phage-Based Magnetoelastic Biosensors

Detection of Salmonella Typhimurium on Spinach Using Phage-Based Magnetoelastic Biosensors

Phage-based magnetoelastic (ME) biosensors have been studied as an in-situ, real-time, wireless, direct detection method of foodborne pathogens in recent years. This paper investigates an ME biosensor method for the detection of Salmonella Typhimurium on fresh spinach leaves. A procedure to obtain a concentrated suspension of Salmonella from contaminated spinach leaves is described that is base...

Direct detection of Salmonella typhimurium on fresh produce using phage-based magnetoelastic biosensors.

Current bacterial detection methods require the collection of samples followed by preparation and analysis in the laboratory, both time and labour consuming steps. More importantly, because of cost, only a limited number of samples can be taken and analyzed. This paper presents the results of an investigation to directly detect Salmonella typhimurium on fresh tomato surfaces using phage-based m...

Optimization of Phage-Based Magnetoelastic Biosensor Performance

A magnetoelastic (ME) platform coated with a biomolecular recognition element (bacteriophage) for selective and specific recognition of Bacillus anthracis spores is described. ME materials have a mass-sensitive, characteristic, resonance frequency. In response to the binding of spores to the phage on the ME biosensor, a corresponding decrease occurs in this resonance frequency, which enables th...

Affinity-selected filamentous bacteriophage as a probe for acoustic wave biodetectors of Salmonella typhimurium.

Proof-in-concept biosensors were prepared for the rapid detection of Salmonella typhimurium in solution, based on affinity-selected filamentous phage prepared as probes physically adsorbed to piezoelectric transducers. Quantitative deposition studies indicated that approximately 3 x 10(10)phage particles/cm(2) could be irreversibly adsorbed for 1 h at room temperature to prepare working biosens...

Identification of a Novel Tumor-Binding Peptide for Lung Cancer Through in-vitro Panning

Tumor-targeted therapies are playing growing roles in cancer research. The exploitation of these powerful therapeutic modalities largely depends on the discovery of tumor-targeting ligands. Phage display has proven a promising high throughput screening tool for the identification of novel specific peptides with high binding affinity to cancer cells. In the present study, we describe the use of ...
